A reflection on the man “My Father”

  • March 9, 2018

It has been close to a year and a half since my Dad passed away suddenly. Yet, it still seems that he is around, he is watching us. I believe no one can really substitute the love and the warmth of your parents.

The sudden news really shook me to the core and there was a sense of disbelif. As if something like this would never happen. Going through all the painful rituals and deal with the tragedy has been tough.

He had visited us a few times & the picture above is from one of them.

He was a pillar of support for all of his closest family. That did not just include Mom and my brother & me, but closely related family as well. He has been instrumental in the upbringing of at least 3 persons who are well settled now. He has touched many lives. It was surprising to see the number of people who had turned up to pay their last respects. And stories that I had not known about came to the fore. One such was where he ensured that one of his acquintances gets blood in time and had to keep shifting the blood right to left and left to right to keep it fresh. Other people telling stories about how he was instrumental is shaping their future as well.

For me, he was a huge support. It was comforting to know that he was there. Though he was half way across the globe, he was just nice to talk to. I used to call him almost every afternoon & he used to eagerly wait and pick up the call. Sometimes questioning if I did not call for a few days.

I will always miss him & strive to do as much good as he did.

Miss you “DAD”.
